Being spontaneous is nothing new to this crew. Since our diesel tow vehicle was having an issue, we decided to set off a day early from our Hat Creek adventure. Homeward bound on CA-44, we traveled through Shingletown, CA, one of our favorite little sweet spots. We decided to halt the homeward bound trek and stay at the Shingletown KOA.
Besdies being full of forest and lush greens, this wooded paradise also had a pool for the kiddos! Even better, all of the holiday camping peeps had already left the park, so we shared the grounds with only 3 other families. JOY! The kids played all around with the various KOA amenities while AJ and I sat around and did absolutely nothing! :)
To reach our special KOA spot, travel I-5 North from Sacramento for approximately 146 miles. Exit into Anderson, California at Deschutes Road (there is a traffic circle on the off-ramp, so take the 2nd exit onto Deschutes Road (right). Travel 4.2 miles and turn right onto Dersch Road. Travel another 12.5 miles and turn right onto CA-44 E. Continue on CA-44 for only another 13 miles, then turn right onto KOA Road.
