For our epic Memorial Day weekend, we headed to Hat Creek, California and stayed at Rancheria RV Resort. This has been a long-time family favorite. Beautiful, peaceful and near Mt. Lassen Volcanic National Park, Burney Falls, Subway Caves and more! TONS of things to do in the area, especially fishing in Hat Creek.
We set off in a roar of hopes and dreams of new adventures. Unfortunately, our trusty, seriously cool tow truck decided it didn't like a particular grade and blew a head gasket. Nice. But all was not ruined and we enjoyed our stay just like any other vacation. We are a resilient, never-gonna-stop family of adventurers, so we made the most of our stay. Scooters, bikes, catch-and-release fishing, campfires, sticky-icky marshmallows, and playing with our doggies were on the agenda. This park allows ATVs, so we regretted not having our toys with us this trip! Next time. :)
To hit this hot spot, travel I-5 North from Sacramento for approximately 146 miles. Exit into Anderson, California at Deschutes Road (there is a traffic circle on the off-ramp, so take the 2nd exit onto Deschutes Road (right). Travel 4.2 miles and turn right onto Dersch Road. Travel another 12.5 miles and turn right onto CA-44 E. Continue on CA-44 for 40 miles and it will turn in to CA-89 North. Continue on CA-89 for 5.9 miles and then turn left into the park on Black Angus Lane. Have fun!!
